Fellowship

Fellow of the Association — FAVAMP

Fellowship is the Association's senior professional distinction. It is conferred by election of the Fellowship Review Committee on documented evidence of contribution, and is never granted automatically on payment of a membership fee.

Procedure

Seven stages to election

  1. 01

    Nomination

A Fellow, Senior Member or institutional member submits a nomination, or a candidate applies directly.

  2. 02

    Application

The candidate files a structured application setting out professional history and contribution.

  3. 03

    Documentary Evidence

Publications, standards, judgments, filings, patents, appointments and references are lodged with the secretariat.

  4. 04

    Expert Review

Independent reviewers assess the evidence against the published criteria and report separately.

  5. 05

    Committee Decision

The Fellowship Review Committee deliberates on the reviewers' reports.

  6. 06

    Election to Fellowship

Election requires a decision of the Committee; payment of any fee never confers Fellowship.

  7. 07

    Public Announcement

The election is published in the register with the date and basis of recognition.

Independence

Fellowship Review Committee

Composition

The Committee comprises several independent specialists drawn from different jurisdictions and disciplines, appointed by the Board under published terms of reference.

Decision-making

Each application is assessed by more than one independent reviewer. Reviewers report separately; the Committee decides collectively and records its reasons.

Recusal

No member of the Committee takes part in the consideration of their own candidacy, or of a candidacy in which they have a personal or commercial interest.

Distinguished Fellow — DFAVAMP

A second, higher level of distinction is reserved for practitioners of sustained international professional influence. It will be available by nomination only, and opens at a later stage of the Association's development.
